This week

This week has been:

{fun}
{stressful}
{frustrating}
{long}

At the beginning of the week, I was straightening my hair when out of nowhere, I heard a big "CRACK".
I took the straightener out of my hair and saw that the spring on the handle broke, so now when you clamp it shut, you also have to pull it back open.
I never realized how much I love springs until this very second.
So.. for the past few days...
My fingers have been burned
My hands have been pinched

and
Curly hair strands have undesirably been left unstraightened

On Tuesday night,
I went to a coffee shop with a few of my friends to study.
Can I just tell you how old I felt?
All of the people there looked like professors
and I felt out of place..
to say the least.
It turned out to be pretty fun though, and I'm sure we will be going again.
[Maybe I'll get one of those delicious-looking desserts that were staring at me the whole time while I was there.]
:)

Last night,
Lauren (my roommate) and I were sleeping and around 2 am, we both heard a really loud noise.
We would have gotten up to investigate,
but those 8-foot high dorm beds were feelin' way too comfortable at the time.
When we got up this morning,
our mirror was laying face down on the floor.
(I knew that stupid tape wouldn't hold it up to the wall for very long)
We picked it up and the whole mirror was
shattered.
{dun dun dun}
I have a big mirror of my own,
but with two girls tryin' to get ready in the morning..
I just don't think one is gonna cut it.
I guess we will be living in the community bathroom for a while..

My madre is in Arkansas right now and I'm kinda really
jealous.
The last time she went, she bought me a really cute purse,
so I'm keepin' my fingers crossed for the same luck on this trip.
:)

I have two tests next week and a 10-page paper due in less than a week,
so I will be pretty busy.
I will try to update my blog,
but as always,
I can't make any promises!
Happy Thursday!

Peace!

Barkley..

This one's for you.
<3

After growing up with you, it seems impossible to me that you are gone.
I remember the first day we brought you home..
Preston and I gave you a grand tour of the house while we pulled you around, full of excitment for our new white puppy.
At the time, Preston was
{obsessed}
with the Phoenix Suns,
so it just didn't seem right if we didn't name you
"Barkley"
after the amazing 'Charles Barkley'.

I am sorry for the times that I dressed you up,
even though I knew you hated it.
Or when I would run out the front door,
forgettng to tell you goodbye.
Or those times when I wouldn't give you any of my food,
and you sat there with those big green eyes, begging.
Or for dragging you into the bathtub,
that you absolutely
despised.

I don't know what we are going to do without you.
Now that you're gone,
I've learned that
[a] Life is too short.
[b] Life is taken too seriously; there's always time for fun.
[c] The love for a dog can match that of the love for any human.

Thank you, Barkley, for being Dad's, Mom's, Preston's and my best friend.
We love you,
and we will miss you Barkster.
